These are the original objectives of our organisation, written down when the organisation was founded in 1999:
- - To have unity within the organisation
- - To work together to set up libraries around the country
- - To encourage young people around the country to develop their knowledge and abilities, to read and write, and to train them to be able to speak in public with confidence
- - To encourage the founding of social welfare and charitable organisations in the country
- - For members of the Best Friend Group of Literature in Burma: to spread books published under our name among the members and organise discussions about them
- - For members: to share their opinions in an open way
- - To help and assist each other whenever a member has problems
- - To encourage friends to join and become a member
After the organisation had to move to Thailand, due to the persecution after the 2007 Saffron Revolution, the following objectives were added:
- - To promote peace and development inside Burma
- - To raise awareness of the situation in Burma abroad
- - To support Burmese refugees in Thailand by offering free education, establishing schools, teaching on different subjects, founding libraries, offering emergency aid, etc.
